Publication: Characterization of the ECM of normal and diseased tissues using proteomics.

Our paper in collaboration with the Balkwill lab at the Barts Cancer Institute at the Queen Mary University of London is now published in the Journal of Proteome Research! In this technical note, we provide optimized protocols to analyze the composition of the ECM from normal and diseased tissues using mass spec. We illustrate the method using ECMs obtained from two pairs of tissues; triple-negative breast cancer and adjacent mammary tissue, and omental metastasis from high-grade serous ovarian cancer and normal omentum. We also present novel R-script-based web tools, freely available on the Matrisome Project, allowing rapid annotation and relative quantification of ECM proteins in MS data output files.
