The Naba Lab welcomes Dr. Krista Habing!

Krista, originally from Champaign, IL, completed her B.Sc. in Bioengineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2020. She then moved to the Pacific Northwest, where she completed her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Oregon Health & Science University in 2025 before returning to Illinois.

In the Naba lab, she will contribute to the development of novel proteomic methods to better characterize the ECM. She is also interested in further exploring the role of SNED1 in skeletal development. Through this work, she aims to advance strategies that support the translation of ECM biology into new therapeutic approaches while also deepening our understanding of development and disease.

Outside the lab, Krista has been Irish dancing for over 20 years and enjoys hiking with her dog, Twiggy, and searching for the best bakeries in Chicago.
